Police have identified the bicyclist killed after being hit by a SUV in Wellesley Township Sunday afternoon.

Barrie Conrod, 52, of Waterloo, was riding his bike with a woman on Hergott Road between Boomer and Ament Line around 4 p.m. Police say the SUV was coming up behind the couple and hit the man, who was riding behind the woman.

Conrod was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was wearing a helmet. The other cyclist and the driver of the SUV, a 31-year old St. Clements man, were not injured.

Police are investigating the path of the SUV and the actions of the bicyclists before the crash. No charges have been laid.

Anyone who may have seen the bicyclists or the SUV before the crash is asked to contact police.
